I believe that Perry is referring to destiny, or fate, when he says this. I don't know if there is anything as destiny because we can't see the future or the consequences that us preforming an action different from the one we took would bring us. For example, we all know that Dick and Perry get caught for their crimes but, what would happen if they just "Filled in the checks" sold the items and went to Mexico instead of committing a murder where it seems, to me the reader, that they did for the thrill. If they just did that they wouldn't have even the risk of going to jail, besides them maybe being caught over bail. I have to say our actions determine the outcome not "Destiny". I'm not destined to fail English. If I fail it's because I procrastinated or just didn't do anything. My actions caused me to fail not fate. This is something Perry and Dick should of thought through before they committed murder and something we should all look at when we are about to do something important.
