True crime in America is something that we like to hear about because we get a thrill out of hearing or seeing something different than the norm. Whether it be in your own community or not we still feel something inside that makes us want to know about the event more than what we have already heard. It's not that we like to hear about the gory or the details because none of us do but we want to know that we aren't just some community that doesn't have any real life action inside of it. We see tv shows that reflect what happens with a crime within a city and we want to experience that exactly as we see it. In Cold Blood reflects this because everyone is telling something different either saying they didn't hear something or they did and they weren't exactly as close as they think they are. Capote shows us how we do tend to react if something happens to someone we know. We get hype up and wrapped up in the idea of something that we could potentially be useful for, a crime in this case where we could tell our side and possibly help out or tell the true story and solve the crime. We want that idea of us being the "heroes" we want that excitement in our lives.

This is very true and very accurate. We can relate your idea of us having a thrill in our own community to what happened recently in Kentucky-in Fort Thomas because knowing that Fort Thomas has always been such a peaceful community to live in, when a crime occurs in this city we are astonished by the incident because we are surprised it happened here, and that's also what they thought in the city of Holcomb, Kansas.
