1. Why is there a fascination with true crime in America? In what ways does In Cold Blood provide insight into the nature of American crime and how we react to it? 1. I think everyone in general has a fascination with true crime because everyone wants to know everyone's bussiness. But more importantly people don't understand what would possess someone to do that to innocent people. Also people have come to terms with the fact that those horrible things could happen to them. And also that they could never become one of the muderers because they a well rounded and "good" person. In Cold Blood the neighbors and other people in the town have locked their doors and windows in hopes that nothing would happen to them like what happened to the Clutters. Also some of the people at very fascinated with who these murderers are and what actually happened during the miseries of the Clutters.

I agree with you completely, but to go into more depth with it I believe people are fascinated with crime because it brings excitement into people's lives and even through watching it on tv. Through watching crimes on tv it can show a side to people no one really knew, like when perry said, “…once a thing is set to happen, all you can do is hope it won’t. Or will – depending. As long as you live, there’s always something waiting, and even if it’s bad, and you know it’s bad, what can you do?” This shows how people in America are set on doing what's the opposiite of good. This relates to what you said through how it is not typical and it leads to people doing something that they would not usually do, but once it's done you just have to accept the outcome.
