People in america want to see something that will excite them. And seeing as how technology has desensitized most people, watching the result of a murder, or other crime, is one of the few way that Americans get the excitement. Now simply telling someone that there is a murder, will not excite anyone. They need details. That is exactly why Truman Capote is so well liked. In "In Cold Blood", there is a surplus of details to enhance the understanding of the crime. Almost to the point that you fell like you are in the room of crime. The American way of crime, because in the modern shows, involve mystery, details, and most times a criminal. Capote nails every last one of these concepts and he wrote almost 50 years ago. This enhances our reaction, to read about something with the detail of a modern show like "48 hours" is absolutely remarkable.
