Perry means that all things happen because of an action that took place in the past, whether it is good or bad. In some ways I agree with this statement, however I also disagree. To use an everyday example, if you don't do your homework for math or pay attention in class, you will not do well on the next test or quiz. However, if you do study you can expect to do well. I mostly disagree with Perry, though. Not all effects happen because of prior actions you have taken. I had a little cousin who at the age of 2 was diagnosed with cancer. She fought hard for a long time, however she lost the battle. She is not the only person to lose their life because of a disease, such as cancer. Many children and adults lose loved ones daily to diseases that they obtained such as type 1 diabetes and cancer. These people didn't do anything to cause them and their families pain. It just happened. I agree that many things happen because of prior actions, however many are also spontaneous.
