Perry has a very blaming outlook on his life. He believes that everything that has happened to him, good or bad, is the product of things that he couldn't control, even if he wanted to control them. He also believes that he has the ability to see certain future events before they happen, or premonition. This 'talent' of his further persuades him to the belief that his destiny and future is already determined and the only thing he can do is live life and wait for it to happen. I believe that his negative view point on life and his future are a result of his hard early childhood. He didn't grow up in the greatest environment and wants to blame life for him being born into that family. I disagree and agree with his viewpoint. Some things you cant change no matter what, like what family you are born into or some cancers. But at the same time almost nothing is set in stone. Just because something is likely to happen doesn't mean it has to happen. Instead of taking a negative attitude like Perry you have to have a positive attitude AND do something about it besides hoping. I disagree with Perry that you should just hope something bad doesn't happen. No instead you need to do something to help yourself. For example, in the book Mr. Clutter pays his first payment on a huge life insurance deal. By doing this Mr. Clutter is accepting the possibility that something bad could happen to them at any time however, unlike Perry he is not going to wait and hope it doesn't happen but be prepared for it instead. I do agree with Perry when he says that you have to keep living life because life is short and even if you cant stop something bad from happening you need to enjoy every day you get.
