There are many reasons why people are so fascinated with crime in the American society. I believe the reason we are so fascinated is because people are driven to know why people who commit crime ( no matter what it may be ) do what they do. Such as in the book why Dick and Perry go so far even to blow Kenyon and Herb in the face with a shotgun and slit Herbs throat. And seem to have tortured the family before they killed them. That fascinates people such as Truman because he wants to know why, and also learn both sides of the story, not just the victims. That's why this story is so different because it causes you to have sympathy for the killers which is uncommon. Also, we react to crime in different ways. Such as with murder, some may respawn with morning and sorrow, while other may respawn with a pissed off sence and a digging feeling to capture the people who did this ( how I feel about 9/11). And, depending on what the case is, it draws people in to learn the cleverness of those who committed the crime and why they did it such as breaking in to a high security facility and how the people did it.
