1. Why is there a fascination with true crime in America? In what ways does In Cold Blood provide insight into the nature of American crime and how we react to it?
We, as americans, love the drama of other peoples lives and find it amusing. We view crimes the same way. We are so fascinated wight he mystery and suspense of the different examples of crimes we have in America. We even have TV shows which show the behind the scenes of crime investigations! In Cold Blood, is interesting because it allows the audience to sympathise with the killers. Feeling close to the murderers is not our initial reaction to murders. The intimacy of the relationship between the audience and the murderers is caused by the information the audience receives of where they go after the murders and how they try to escape it. This part of the "background' gives us insight into the question "What happens to the murder's before they are caught?" In In Cold Blood, we are able to take this information in which leads to a sympathetic view towards the murderers.
