Literary nonfiction can mean that is a creative writing piece based on actual events. In simple terms, portraying the truth with selective insights that you are more connected with. Capote writes In Cold Blood different from straight crime reporting because he may not want his writing piece to be just another account of the strory. I compare this to having many photos of an art piece but someone else painting that art piece with different colors. The way they paint and what kind of colors they use can tell us a lot what the artist is trying to express. Much like Capiote in the reading. Capote could have left out the fact that the two murderers, stop on the way to look for a new job in the U.S., to help the young boy and his grandfather. The reason he adds this specific account is to give Dick and Perry, a passionate and almost Good Samaritan look. Ironically, the two are scared that the grandfather might die in their car! In a true crime report, only the facts that happened in cause of the murder are the ones we hear about. Nothing else that makes them look good , but only the bad. Capiote creates this kind of story to give crimes another look. While, almost everyone sees crime as bad and feel sorrow for the affected, Capote forces us to look at the sensitive and more nice part of the killers.
