Literary non fiction means telling a story but about an actual event and with literary elements. Straight crime reporting is very different from In Cold Blook due to the author often being sympathetic towards the killers which causes the readers to also feel sympathetic. A crime report would also only give details of the case with no bias opinions in it while in the book the detectives do give their personal feelings. For example when the detectives are listening to each story the author demonstrates their sadness like when Buntz says he can picture each gruesome room as the killers explain what they did, and he wishewishes he never saw the crime scene. By creating a "literary non-fiction" story the author is able to give an account of an event but while telling it as a story which in my opinion makes it more interesting.

I think that this point shows how Capote's background influenced his story's layout that would be considered something new like "literary non-fiction,". By coming from New York, a large, urban, metropolis, Capote used his insensitivity to the Kansas town's murder in order to create a work that captured multiple perspectives. He is able to pioneer this technique through using his lack of sympathy. This lack of sympathy in turn created something that truly showed the killer's perspective thus creating a more interesting piece as you explained.
