Literary nonfiction uses techniques that are typically found in a fiction piece but they are transferred to represent/describe a real life situation. Capote demonstrates this type of work through his novel "In Cold Blood". This is a great example of literary nonfiction because an actual murder is represented through this story but Capote is able to use techniques that are incorporated in to a fiction novel. Straight crime reports are given facts about a real life murder. This differs from literary nonfiction because there is emotion weaved into literary nonfiction piece. Another aspect of literary nonfiction is that the author is able to twist the reader's opinion in favor of his/hers. Because the novel is labeled as nonfiction, he is to be considered a trusted author and therefore the readers tend to agree with the points he makes. He is able to make the audience sympathize the two murderers by creating an emotional pull that makes the readers feel sorry for the two criminals.
