Do you think there is a difference between reading a true crime book and reading a violent fiction book? Do you feel different while reading one as compared to the other? --I feel that there is definately a difference between reading true crime and violent fiction. While reading true crime, the fact that what they are reading is always in the back of their head, which makes them react emotionally in a very realistic way. However, in violent fiction everything is artificial. Therefore, the reader won't feel the same sympathy/empathy they had for the real characters in true crime. All in all, true crime and violent fiction are different in that a reader will not experience the same emotions upon reading the different genres. True crime will allow the reader to feel sympathy for other real human beings, while in violent fiction an author has more freedom with the characters to develop a personal relationship with the reader.

I agree that it is evident that you have different feelings when reading each type of book. I also feel that in true crime we feel scared or anxious more because it's true and it could happen to anyone even us at anytime. I feel with a violent book it's fictional and it's not happening to ordinary people like a true crime book is.
