I believe we are not responsible for our beliefs and behaviors when we are at a young age and those who are unaware that their belief or action may have a consequence. For this reason, when we are at a young age we are still curious about the world, learning how the world works. It is up to our parents to tell us if our belief and behavior is a wrong doing or not. That when we make an action we don't know the consequences to that action. I would say the same thing would apply for those unaware that their belief or action is not accepted. That one may come from another culture of different values and it is up to us to tell that person the correct beliefs and behaviors.

I disagree, if a person believes something that does not mean that they must act upon these beliefs. Just because the killers thought it was okay and justified to murder the family does not make murder okay. Murder is against the law because it is morally wrong to murder and it is against the law to maintain order and justice in our society. A person can think whatever they want but their actions are always their responsibility.

I think that a person who believes in something might act upon these beliefs out of curiosity it doesn't necessarily mean they must act on it. I think that we can all agree that murder is wrong in all culture, even the killers. The killer's had to know killing was wrong they already went to jail once even Perry killed a man. They had a reason they murdered the family. What I'm trying to say is going from culture to culture there will be different beliefs but there will be some that are the same like murder. If a person commits something in the wrong that is ok in their culture there has to be somebody to tell them that their beliefs are wrong.

I agree that to a certain age we base our beliefs upon what our role leaders and parents tell us. Once we get top a certain age we start to develop our own beliefs and morals to justify our experiences. In the book, Nancy was raised to be a Methodist while her boyfriend Bob was raised as a Catholic. Nancy is told by her father that their relationship will not work because of their differences in their strict beliefs. However, Bob and Nancy drift away from their parents beliefs based on their relationship because they want to be together.
In response to the comment that said "everyone knows murder is wrong", is false. Some societies justify killing people for religious and political reasons. An example would be genocide when Hitler convinced people it was OK and justified to kill Jews. If they killed the Jews, Germans who followed Hitler , were convinced that it would better their economic stance and help the world as a whole. Some religions believe that they can kill those who do not believe the same things as them because they are bettering the world for God. Some political rulers use this tactic as well, convincing the people they lead that God is calling them to better the world by riding it of the "evil" people.
