When are we not responsible for our own beliefs and behavior

I believe when we are young children, our parents' role is to introduce us to religion, or different cultures, or particular environments and attitudes that they want us to grow up in. We all know that when we come to a certain age of maturity that we can start believing in what we want to believe and choose our attitudes but often need to know the consequences that come after them. By this day and age, we should be responsible by now to believe in what we want, as well as
choosing a variety of behaviors - we need to
be cautious of the people's reaction around us
when we portray those attitudes.
