2. Which is more important to a person's development: nature or nurture?
I believe that the nurturing during a person's development has a much greater impact than the original nature of the human. More often than not, the people that commit crimes in this world are usually people who had bad upbringings and didn't have a good person to mentor them and teach them important values and morals. In the novel In Cold Blood, Perry Smith was an uneducated man who lived through an abusive childhood. If Perry would have lived a normal childhood, it is much more likely that he would've never have committed the murders that he did. While humans may be born with good nature, horrible mentors and an unhealthy lifestyle can cause them to become evil human beings which means that the environment that a child grows in means much more than their initial nature.

While humans may be born with good nature, horrible mentors and an unhealthy lifestyle can cause them to become evil human beings As a child, you look up to your parents and see them as a "god". When a kid is raised in an abrasive and harsh environment all they know is how to be abrasive and harsh in nature. They think that it is right to do these terrible crimes and habits because their guardians did them. However, While it might turn some evil, this extreme environment can create very successful people. Oprah Winfrey was pregnant at 14, Charlize Theron, at only 15, witnessed her father get killed by her own mother, and 50 cent was born into a bad childhood by a cocaine dealing, teenage mom, just to name a few. So while these surroundings increases the chances of a child becoming an evil adult, it can also induce within the child a desire for change. That child does not want to end up like their deadbeat parents and in turns strives to succeed.
